Starting from March 7, Prāta Vētra’s new song “Pirmajā dienā” will hit radio stations and digital streaming platforms – the first single from the band’s upcoming studio album, set to be released in April. Alongside the single, a vibrant and star-filled music video has also been unveiled.
“Pirmajā dienā” tells a captivating story of a fateful meeting written in the stars – a connection so powerful that not even a journey across galaxies can break it. The song was created during the band’s writing sessions in Barcelona and recorded in Stockholm, under the guidance of producer Povel Olsson. The track also features David Larson, guitarist of the Swedish band The Royal Concept, who previously collaborated with Prāta Vētra on their album “Par to zēnu, kas sit skārda bungas”.
The song’s music video was directed by the band’s drummer Kaspars Roga, whose idea for the storyline came unexpectedly:
“Thank you, muses! I was sitting in a sunny café in Barcelona, and the idea just landed – maybe we should fly to space! I wrote it all down on paper, showed it to my friends, and we knew right away – this was the one, we had to film it,” says Kaspars.
The video was filmed in a Riga studio, produced by the “film naked” team. Its artistic design was created by Laura Dišlere, a Lielais Kristaps award winner, with visual characters brought to life by Līva Drešere, and stunning 3D effects crafted by talented animator Kaspars Murelis.
“We filmed for two days on a set built to look like a real spaceship, which the props team shook and rocked as we sped through galaxies. Turns out we’re all great actors – surrounded by blue screens, we had to imagine everything, from our rivals Bermudu Divstūris’ spacecraft to Keika’s intergalactic spaceship lot. One of the team’s favorite scenes was when Andris Keišs and his four-legged friend Šašliks sold us a spaceship – definitely a highlight,” Kaspars laughs.
